KABUL, Nov. 20 (Xinhua Finance) -- A suicide car bomb for which the Taliban militants claimed responsibility had left four people dead, three others injured Wednesday night in the Afghan capital of Kabul, a statement of Kabul police released here on Thursday said.
Four suicide bombers driving an explosive-laden car targeted a guest house of foreigners known as Green Village in the eastern part of Kabul city Wednesday night, the statement said. "One of the attackers blew up himself inside the car next to the gate of the Green House, enabling three others to open fire in an attempt to enter the compound but all the trio were killed in fire exchange with the security personnel,"the statement added.
Two foreign citizens and a local guard of the compound were injured in the attack, said the statement.
Meanwhile, Zabihullah Mujahid who claims to speak for the Taliban outfit in talks with media via telephone from an unknown location claimed of responsibility, insisting the militants inflicted huge casualties on Afghan and foreigners during the attack.
The deadly offensive against Green Village which located in Pul- e-Charkhi area took place about 8:50 p.m.(GMT1420), and following the attack armed militants tried to enter the compound, a police officer near the site told Xinhua, adding that the security personnel retaliated in sharp reaction, killing the three remaining attackers.
General Mohammad Ayub Salangi, the deputy minister for interior affairs confirmed that one of the attackers was killed in his blast and three others were killed during fire exchange with the security personnel.
A similar suicide attack on a private company at the same place on Tuesday had killed five people, including two security guards and three attackers, while injuring three civilians.
