by Stephanie Parker UNITED NATIONS, Nov. 19 (Xinhua Finance) -- The new-edition of the State of the World's Children Report was compiled with brave thinking strategies and innovation measures, the co-creator of the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) Innovation Unit said. In an interview with Xinhua recently, Christopher Fabian said that "young people are very much involved in building the content behind this year's report." Active talks, designed to get all kinds of viewpoints from youth worldwide, were held in more than 20 countries and gave youth a platform to speak about their issues, Fabian said, saying this strategy is a different approach for such kind of report. "Activate talk is basically a conference where young people get together and share in a very brief format ... what's important to them," he said. "People are interested in jobs, better education, access to better opportunities and access to choice," he said, saying the role of the Innovation Unit, created in 2007, is to bring together different conversations and create one voice out of them. UNICEF's role is to help raise the voice of youth through these talks as a mediator, he said. The talks will continue to be held for the next several months after the issue of the report. Moreover, new approaches such as active talks and public platform for youth will be adopted by future report setting, Fabian said. Marking 25 years of the Convention on the Rights of the Child, UNICEF released a report on the State of the World's Children, calling on governments, development professionals, businesses, activists and communities to work together on this matter of innovation. Noting that innovations are already happening at local level to help children gain access to services and opportunities, the report, which entitled Re-imagine the Future: Innovation for Every Child, said that such innovations should be brought to benefit more people.
