BEIJING, Jan. 12 (Xinhua) -- The 1990s generation has become the dominant moviegoer group in China and contributed around 55 percent of the 2019 box office revenue, according to an annual film market report issued Saturday.
Launched at a Beijing ceremony co-sponsored by the China Film Critics Association, the report noted that the 2019 China box office sales totaled nearly 64.27 billion yuan (around 9.2 billion U.S. dollars), growing by 5.4 percent from the previous year.
The combined sales of the top 15 films on the 2019 China box office chart accounted for more than half of the total, according to the report.
Domestic films grossed nearly 41.18 billion yuan, or 64 percent of the total.
