Jinan Shengquan Group has produced biomass graphene and corncob fibers from corn cobs, and realized mass production of a new smart multifunctional complex fiber from graphene and corncob fibers.
Tang Yilin, president of Jinan Shengquan Group, said the newly built commercial production line of graphene has started operation with annual capacity of 100 tonnes, and a new production line with annual capacity of 1,000 tonnes is under design and will be constructed in 2016.
Every four to five tonnes of corncobs will produce one tonnes of graphene and the biomass graphene produced by Shengquan Group will be supplied to the market at 1 yuan/gram, said Tang.
Shengquan Group plans to set up corncob vegetable fiber plants in Shandong Province, in a bid to improve the performance of China's viscose fiber and polyester, and to enhance the innovation capacity and international competitiveness of the textile and apparel industry of China.
