China Academy of Engineering (CAE) and China Nuclear Energy Association (CNEA) have carried out research into domestic inland nuclear power plants' site planning to ensure safety before construction kicks off, according to a report by China Times on Sunday.

Consigned by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the CAE and CNEA have specified whether the inland nuclear power plants meet relevant standards in a report which have been submitted to the State Council.

This could be the signal of restarting inland nuclear power construction if the report got approval, according to an anonymous source with the Energy Research Institute of the NDRC.

It is noted that domestic nuclear power enterprises and local governments have been actively preparing for inland nuclear power construction that at least 10 provinces and regions have proposed to develop nuclear power and that 31 nuclear power plant locations have completed preliminary feasibility report review, according to industry insiders.
