U.S. dollar rises amid improved risk appetite

NEW YORK, July 1 (Xinhua) -- U.S. dollar rose on Monday as risk appetite was improved across financial markets.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased 0.73 percent at 96.8393 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro decreased to 1.1285 U.S. dollars from 1.1375 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound fell to 1.2637 dollars from 1.2702 dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar was down to 0.6957 dollar from 0.7018 dollar. The U.S. dollar bought 108.46 Japanese yen, higher than 107.78 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar rose to 0.9875 Swiss franc from 0.9755 Swiss franc, and it increased to 1.3140 Canadian dollars from 1.3082 Canadian dollars.
