U.S. dollar rises amid boosted risk appetite

NEW YORK, Nov. 5 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar rose in late trading on Tuesday as investors' risk appetite was boosted by hopes about improving global trade prospects.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, was up 0.44 percent at 97.9846 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1063 U.S. dollars from 1.1127 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2880 dollars from 1.2879 dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar rose to 0.6890 dollar from 0.6880 dollar.

The dollar bought 109.22 Japanese yen, higher than 108.63 Japanese yen of the previous session. The dollar increased to 0.9933 Swiss franc from 0.9880 Swiss franc, and it was up to 1.3158 Canadian dollars from 1.3150 Canadian dollars.
