U.S. dollar weakens as risk appetite eases

NEW YORK, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar declined on Monday against traditional safe-haven currencies like Japanese yen and Swiss franc as investors' risk appetite eased amid trade uncertainties.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, fell 0.16 percent at 98.1981 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro was up to 1.1033 dollars from 1.1023 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound rose to 1.2854 dollars from 1.2783 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar was down to 0.6852 dollar from 0.6855 dollar.

The U.S. dollar bought 109.02 Japanese yen, lower than 109.15 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar fell to 0.9931 Swiss franc from 0.9974 Swiss franc, and it decreased to 1.3223 Canadian dollars from 1.3227 Canadian dollars.
