The most active crude oil contract for July delivery dipped 3.2 yuan (about 46 U.S. cents) to close at 431 yuan a barrel.
On Tuesday the total trading volume for 10 listed crude oil futures contracts on the exchange was 382,962 lots, with a turnover of about 164.8 billion yuan.
China launched the crude oil futures trading, which is open to overseas investment, on March 26 last year.
