Tokyo stocks lost ground Tuesday morning as Britain deciding to leave the European Union continued to weigh heavily on investor sentiment with the yen's strength against a basket of other currencies compounding a dour market mood.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average dropped 50.19 points, or 0. 33 percent, from Monday to 15,259.02. The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 6.85 points, or 0.56 percent, to 1,218.91. Notable decliners by the morning break comprised securities, rubber products and insurance-linked stocks.
