Chinese shares open lower Tuesday
Chinese stocks opened lower on Tuesday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index down 0.12 percent to open at 2,651.56 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index opened 0.28 percent lower at 7,916.55 points.
The ChiNext Index, China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, was down 0.18 percent to open at 1,370.29 points.
Hong Kong stocks lost 62.85 points, or 0.23 percent, to open at 27,119.19 points on Tuesday.
Tokyo stocks open marginally lower as investors take profits
Tokyo stocks opened marginally lower Tuesday as investors moved to secure profits after the benchmark Nikkei stock index a day earlier extended its run of closing highs to seven successive trading days.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 38.85 points, or 0.17 percent, from Monday to 22,535.91.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, edged down 6.32 points, or 0.37 percent, to 1,682.73.
Marine transportation, bank and construction-oriented issues comprised those that declined the most in the opening minutes after the morning bell.
