U.S.-listed Chinese firms trade mostly lower

NEW YORK, Nov. 13 (Xinhua) -- U.S.-listed Chinese companies traded mostly lower on Wednesday with seven of the top 10 stocks by weight in the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index ending the day on a downbeat note.

Shares of Trip.com Group and Baidu decreased 3.02 percent and 2.88 percent, respectively, the top two laggards in the top 10 stocks of the index.

Shares of New Oriental Education & Technology Group and TAL Education Group increased 2.31 percent and 0.52 percent, respectively, leading the gainers in the top 10.

U.S. stocks closed mixed on Wednesday as investors digested Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell's latest testimony.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average increased 92.10 points, or 0.33 percent, to 27,783.59. The S&P 500 rose 2.20 points, or 0.07 percent, to 3,094.04. The Nasdaq Composite Index decreased 3.99 points, or 0.05 percent, to 8,482.10.

As of Tuesday, the S&P U.S. Listed China 50 index stood at 3,052.32, marking a 5.44-percent increase for the month-to-date returns and a 33.21-percent gain for the year-to-date returns.
