TOKYO, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks ended essentially flat Monday as investors picked up issues oversold recently amid concerns about a resurgence of coronavirus cases in the United States and other parts of the world.

The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average shed 41.52 points, or 0.18 percent, from Friday to close the day at 22,437.27.

The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, lost 3.71 points, or 0.23 percent, to finish at 1,579.09.

Air and land transportation issues led notable decliners, while textile and apparel, and pharmaceutical issues comprised those that gained the most by the close of play.
