The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.45 percent higher at 14,451.38 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 1.14 trillion yuan (178.15 billion U.S. dollars), up from 1.11 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks related to cloud gaming and beer led the gains, while those related to electricity, banking and coal led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 2.21 percent to close at 3,350.67 points.
