The Shenzhen Component Index closed 1.19 percent lower at 14,029.55 points.
The combined turnover of stocks covered by the two indices came in at approximately 984.44 billion yuan (about 155.05 billion U.S. dollars), down from 1.13 trillion yuan on the previous trading day.
Stocks in the sector of mining and washing of coal were the biggest winners. Stocks related to pharmaceutical and catering led the losses.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China's NASDAQ-style board of growth enterprises, lost 1.02 percent to close at 3,034.68 points Friday.
