SEOUL, Feb. 14 (Xinhua) -- South Korea's automotive production, export and local sale declined in double figures in January on fewer business days during the Lunar New Year holiday, a government report showed Friday.
The number of cars produced in domestic factories was 251,573 in January, down 29.0 percent from a year earlier, according to the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy.
It came as the number of working days reduced last month on the Lunar New Year holiday that moved to January this year from February last year.
Auto sale in the domestic market retreated 14.7 percent over the year to 116,153 vehicles last month due to fewer business days and the end of consumption tax exemption.
Car export tumbled 28.1 percent to 150,974 units in the month, while auto parts shipment slumped 15.0 percent to 1.74 billion U.S. dollars.
