Top political advisor Yu Zhengsheng on Sunday called for contributions to China's 2016-2020 development plan.
The political advisory body should play a key role to contribute to the formulation of the five-year plan, Yu said at the close of a meeting of the Standing Committee of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, the country's top political advisory body.
He said the development model should adapt to the economy's new normal, encouraging political advisors to come up with new measures and ideas to deal with over-capacity and focus on coordinated and balanced development.
"The bottom line of not giving rise to systematic, regional risks should be strictly guarded," Yu said, calling for measures to enhance risk prevention. The meeting also decided to hold a series of events to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Sun Yat-sen next year.
