China's ministries are compiling a mineral resource plan for the 13th Five Year Plan period from 2016 to 2020, according to Ju Jianhua, an official of the Ministry of Land and Resources (MLR) on Saturday.
During the period, China will strengthen geological survey and service for public welfare, optimize development and utilization structure of energy and minerals, enhance metal minerals guarantee capability, advance rational development and utilization of nonmetal minerals, safeguard mineral supplies for strategic emerging industries, accelerate mineral innovative development and green transformation, actively participate in the international mining cooperation, and deepen the reform on the mineral resource management, Ju said.
At present, more than 50 mineral varieties are closely related to the development of the emerging industries, like new energy and intelligent manufacturing.
Under the plan, the country will rationally develop and effectively protect the key minerals with good foundation, big market potential and strong international competitiveness to extend industrial chain and promote development of the strategic emerging industries, Ju added.
