China is expected to unveil the 13th Five-Year Plan (2016-2020) on big data industry within 2016, said an official with the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on a forum held in Beijing on November 25, quoted by the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News.

Xie Shaofeng, director of the information and software service department of MIIT, highlighted the importance of enhancing information security and building a powerful big data safety system.

To achieve the goal, on the one hand, related authorities should foster a correct security concept to firmly ensure the safety of network and big data.

On the other hand, a sound policy environment should be created for big data information security, said Xie.

Besides, related authorities should conduct the research and development (R&D) as well as application demonstration of big data security products.

In addition, a batch of big data security labs should be given full support in the future.

Xie expected that China's big data business alliance should work together to solve information security problems during big data development.

Statistics showed that China's big data market scale is likely to reach 248.5 billion yuan by the end of 2016. With the implementation of supporting policies, the industry is expected to see its market scale amount to 1.3626 trillion yuan by 2020.
