Tibet Autonomous Region in southwest China aims to inject 238.8 billion yuan in the following five years to boost its traffic construction. By 2020, the total length of the region's railway is expected to reach 110,000 kilometers.
Tibet Autonomous Region has been boosting the development of transport sector and implemented a series of major traffic projects from 2011 to 2015. A senior official with Department of Transportation of Tibet said that the autonomous region completed investment of 67.9 billion yuan in traffic infrastructure construction during the 12th Five-year Plan (from 2011 to 2015), 2.6 times the amount of the 11th Five-year Plan period.
