A committee was set up in Beijing Friday to coordinate the development of freight rail services between China and Europe.
The committee was initiated by China Railway Corporation and includes seven companies that operate freight rail services.
As an enterprise-level coordination platform, the committee will stick to the principle of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits to solve challenges in operating China-Europe freight rail services, further lower logistics costs and improve services, China Railway said in a statement.
China now has freight rail services to 29 European cities. Since March 2011, when the service was launched, more than 4,000 trips have been made, and the figure is expected to rise to 5,000 in 2020.
