China's largest telecom operator China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK) signed an agreement with the government of central China's Hubei province on Thursday.
According to the agreement, China Mobile will invest 40 billion yuan in the 13th Five-Year plan period, which is from 2016 to 2020, to boost Hubei's information infrastructure construction and IT industry development, in a bid to support "Intelligent Hubei" construction.
China Mobile and Hubei will launch deep cooperation in fields of information telecom infrastructure construction, cloud computing, and applications of intelligent governance and intelligent industries, to provide full-swing information services for government, enterprises and the public.
By now, China Mobile has built 45,000 4G base stations in the central China province, and increased its 4G users to over eight million.
