China's Shandong Yuhuang Chemical (Group) on September 18 local time held a foundation laying ceremony for its natural gas-to-methanol plant on the Mississippi River in St. James Parish, Louisiana of the United States.
With a total investment of 1.85 billion US dollars announced back in late 2014, the project is scheduled to be constructed in three phases with the first phase of the methanol project, with an annual output capacity of 1.8 million tonnes, expected to begin operation in 2018.
