Geely Automobile Holdings recently signed an agreement with the local government of Xiangtan city, Hunan Province, to add a new energy SUV platform to its existing production base in Xiangtan. As agreed, Geely will invest 3.5 billion yuan in the project.
Major products of the project will conclude turbocharged energy-efficient gasoline SUV models and plug-in hybrid SUV models.
Construction on related facilities will begin by the end of 2015 and the first SUV product is expected to roll of the production line by the end of 2017.
By 2018, the Xiangtan production base is anticipated to see an additional SUV output capacity of 150,000 units a year, with annual output value at about 15 billion yuan.
