China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK), the world's largest telecom operator by customer number, announced on Monday its total customers increased 13.51 million in the first eight months of this year, comparing with an increase of 28.83 million for the year-earlier period. Its total customers reached 820.15 million by the end of August, up 3.03 percent from a year earlier.
Among the number, 202.63 million were 3G customers and 229.27 million were 4G customers. The company's 3G customers decreased 43.12 million in the eight months while the number of 4G customers increased 139.2 million.
In August, it added 1.37 million new customers and the 3G customers and 4G customers decreased 7.26 million and increased 51.55 million, respectively.
