China's basic telecom operator China Telecom (CHA.NYSE; 007282.HK) announced on Monday its mobile subscribers reached 193.16 million by the end of August this year, up 6.98 percent year on year.
In August, the company's mobile subscribers increased about 900,000, as against an increase of 0.52 million in the year-earlier period. China Telecom said its 3G and 4G subscribers grew 1.81 million in August to 134.71 million in total. In the fixed-line telecom business sector, China Telecom added 450,000 wireline broadband subscribers in August, which brought the total to 110.51 million.
Its subscribers of local access lines in services, including wireless local access lines, dropped 850,000 in the month, to 137.63 million in total.
