U.S. electric car maker Tesla is expected to have its products involved in China's catalogue of new energy vehicles (NEV), said the company's vice president of communications Ricardo Reyes on Monday.

The auto news portal auto.sina.com.cn quoted the official as saying the high-profile electric car maker is keeping close contact with the Chinese government, and it is optimistic that the entry into national catalogue will be approved by the end of this year.

Reyes said Tesla is glad to see Chinese government involved BMW's i3 electric car into the catalogue recently, which indicates the pure electric cars produced by foreign-funded companies can also enjoy China's policy preferences. He added Tesla has participated in the formulation of China's new electric car charging standards and will make its products adapted to the standards.
