China's largest telecom operator China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK) had built more than one million 4G base stations by end-Sept., helping the company complete its 4G construction target for this year ahead of schedule.
China Mobile's vice president Li Zhengmao said at a forum that the company has registered 230 million 4G TD-LTE customers, with an addition of more than 20 million every month, the telecom news portal cctime.com reported on Tuesday.
Li said China Mobile is deploying the LTE-Advanced technology at present, which will increase the peak download speed of its TD-LTE network to 220Mbps. Meanwhile, the company is testing the three-carrier technology, which is expected to increase the network's maximum download speed to 330Mbps.
