Semiconductor Manufacturing International Co. (SMIC, SMI.NYSE; 00981.HK), China's largest contract chip maker, announced on Tuesday that it achieved net profit of 82.60 million US dollars in the third quarter of this year, up 73.89 percent year on year.
The operating turnover of the company reached 569.9 million US dollars during the period, down 9.2 percent year on year.
According to a company filing, it predicted its revenue would rise by the range of 3 percent to 6 percent in the last quarter of this year, and the expected gross margin would range between 28 percent and 30 percent.
Qiu Ciyun, CEO of SMIC, said the company's revenue and net profit hit a record high in Q3, and its capacity utilization still remained in a high level.
Compared with the third quarter, its operating profit will witness annual growth of over 10 percent in Q4.
