Feng Jun, former general manager of State Grid Shanghai Municipal Electric Power Company, stood trial Thursday in Shanghai for suspectedly taking bribes, according to a local court.
The case was heard by the First Intermediate People's Court of Shanghai. Feng, born in 1957, allegedly took bribes and owned a huge amount of property of unidentified provenance, the local prosecutor said.
He is accused of "offering help" to multiple companies in obtaining projects and other advantages from his power company.
He, personally, or in collusion with his wife, used his power to seek and accept bribes worth more than 43 million yuan (around 7 million U.S. dollars) from others, according to the prosecutor.
In addition, his property and expenditure obviously exceeded his legal income, and he cannot identify the source of the "huge difference" worth over 76 million yuan. Feng was under a graft probe in late October last year. The court will give the verdict on a later date.
