Shenhua Energy sees commercial coal output, sales both drop in Jan.-Oct.

China Shenhua Energy Co., Ltd (601088.SH; 01088.HK), the largest coal producer in China, announced late Monday that its commercial coal output witnessed a year-on-year decline of 9.2 percent to 234 million tonnes in the first ten months with coal sales also dropped 18.8 percent year on year to 305 million tonnes during the period.

The company generated electricity of 186.49 billion kwh in the January-October period, down 3.3 percent on year, selling totally 173.51 billion kwh of electricity, down 3.4 percent on year, reported China Securities Journal.

The company reported good performance in the coal chemical sector, selling polyethylene and polypropylene of 272,900 tonnes and 263,900 tonnes in the first ten months this year, up 23.2 percent and 17.8 percent year on year, respectively.
