Chinese language search engine, Baidu.com Inc. (BIDU.NASDAQ), announced Thursday that it has established an education business department with Baidu Chuanke as the core platform.
Analysts say the move may indicate Baidu will increase input to the online education business. Baidu acquired the online education website chuanke.com in 2014 and emerged it with Baidu online classes to build Baidu Chuanke in August of the same year.
Wang Haiming, manager of Baidu's education business department, introduced that Baidu Chuanke's core operations include providing education solutions and expanding user base.
Wang Zhan, vice president of Baidu, said Baidu Chuanke's major potential users are adults between 18 years old and 30 years old who can be college students or company employees.
