SAIC Motor has completed construction of the first phase of its 55MW building-integrated PV (BIPV) project in Ningbo city, east China's Zhejiang Province.
The project, invested by SAIC Motor's subsidiary Shanghai Automotive Asset Management Co., is expected to supply 22 million kilowatt hours of electricity annually at the first phase and the total electricity output will be used to support the daily operation of SAIC's Ningbo manufacturing base.
The phase-one BIPV project is designed to save about 6,600 metric tons (tonnes) of standard coal every year and reduce emissions of carbon dioxide by 17,000 tonnes, said Zhang Hailiang, vice president of SAIC Motor, quoted by Dongfang Daily.
