SAIC-GM, a joint venture between SAIC Motor and General Motors, will recall about 2.16 million vehicles in China because the engine crankcase ventilation valves may corrode, the country's top quality watchdog said Thursday.
The affected cars include 833,922 Buick Excelles, 1.15 million Chevy Cruzes, 158,965 Chevy Epicas and 18,237 Chevy Aveos, according to the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine in a statement released on its website.
The vehicles were produced between Feb. 14, 2009 and April 27, 2016. The company will replace the crankcase ventilation valves free of charge to fix the defects. The recall will start on Aug. 15.
