CGNC initiates small-sized offshore nuclear power station reactor

China General Nuclear Power Corporation (CGNC) announced that it had inked pressure vessel purchase agreement with Dongfang Electric Co., Ltd to start constructing experimental offshore reactor ACPR50S.

CGNC also signed framework deal with Shanghai Electric Nuclear Power Group on co-advancing intelligent nuclear power, said Huang Xiaofei, spokesman with CGNC.

This means Internet plus nuclear power will extend from design and construction companies to nuclear power equipment industry chain, according to Huang.

ACPR50S could be an important solution for marine energy problem due to its high-efficient, stable, reliable energy output as well as low energy supply demand, and could also be important technology reserve for marine nuclear power, said Huang.
