Swiss unemployment drops to 3.4 pct in March

The Swiss State Secretariat for Economic Affairs (SECO) said Friday that 3.4 percent of Switzerland's working population were unemployed in March, down from 3.6 percent two months ago.

With 7,529 fewer individuals registered as jobless last month, Swiss authorities indicated that a total of 152,280 people were considered out of work in the period under review.

Statistics show that unemployment of youth aged 15 to 24 years dropped by 8.1 percent, with 17,563 young adults looking for a job last month.

The number of jobseekers signed up to work in the confederation decreased by 6,379 people from February to March, reaching 217,248 people by the end of last month.

SECO reported that the number of listed job opportunities in the country grew by 90 last month, to reach 12,131 openings.
