Oman Air on Monday said its chief executive officer Paul Gregorowitsch has submitted his resignation.

The state-owned airline's board has accepted the resignation, a statement from the national carrier said.

Eng. Abdulaziz Saud AlRaisi, executive vice president for products and brand development, will serve as acting chief executive with immediate effect until the replacement of the chief executive officer is announced.

Oman Air has a fleet of 47 aircraft and the airline is embarking on an ambitious expansion programme to enhance fleet strength to 70 aircraft by 2020.

The new aircraft will be a mix of both narrow body and wide body planes.
