As the second largest car manufacturer in Europe, the PSA Group attended the 2018 Beijing International Automotive Exhibition opened yesterday.
According to the quarterly financial report released several days ago, the sales volume in the first quarter for the company rose by 42 percent when compared with the previous year.
"We aim to sell around 4,000,000 units this year," said Carlos Gomes, the vice CEO of the PSA Group as well as the CEO of PSA China.
"We have set up a brand new LEV (Low Emission Vehicles) department recently to accelerate the development of NEVs," said Gomes" and the two platforms for the production of small and midsize vehicles, namely CPM and EMP2 platforms respectively. Both platforms have produced the 30008, 40008 and 50008 car models which we are all familiar with. The two platforms will continue to produce both traditional cars and NEVs."
"After setting up the new department, the company launched its first hybrid powered vehicles, Gomes told the journalist the reasons behind the move, " PSA is slated to launch both PHEVs (plug-in hybrid electric vehicles) and BEVs (Battery Electrical vehicles) according to different tastes of various customers. We will provide diversified electrical vehicles to our customers." he added.
PSA is cooperating with the Chinese carmaker Dengfeng Motor Corporation on a joint venture in building the ECMP platform, committed to producing NEVs. The first batch of vehicles will make a debut by the end of next year.
"We will roll out seven NEV models from 2019 to 2021 as we plan to have at least one NEVs in each model of our cars," says Gomes. "we will, of course, strengthen our classic brands first."
Regarding the duel point systems concerning NEVs which was decided by Chinese policymakers to execute this year since April 1, the CEO told the Cfbond.com that the company would keep a close eye on the policies including the reduction on tariffs in imports and ease of proportion for foreign ownership of car manufacturing in China. They will not make any moves before research and discussions.
