China's courier sector continued to see rapid growth in the first four months of 2018, official data showed Saturday.
The sector's combined revenue stood at 173.86 billion yuan (27.37 billion U.S. dollars) in the January-April period, up 28.4 percent year on year, according to data from the State Post Bureau (SPB).
A total of 13.67 billion parcels were handled during the period, up 29.3 percent from a year ago.
In April alone, 3.75 billion parcels were delivered, generating total revenue of 46.72 billion yuan, up 26.5 percent, the SPB said.
The strong growth was partly due to strong growth in China's online consumption. In the first quarter, online retail sales of consumer goods surged 35.4 percent, faster than the 9.8-percent increase in the country's total retail sales.
