Alipay, the world’s leading mobile and online payment platform operated by Ant Financial Services Group, now has more than 700 million active users in China, said Jing Xiandong, CEO of Ant Financial, according to the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News.
Jing also announced in Tokyo on Wednesday that Alipay would cooperate with local Japanese partners to accelerate building a cashless environment for tourists going to Japan, especially for the Tokyo Olympics Games in the 2020.
It is noted that Alipay was introduced to Japan to provide services to Chinese visitors at local merchants in December 2015.
