One of Australia's oldest engineering companies, RCR Tomlinson, has gone into administration following a number of costly solar farm enterprises which left them unable to cover costs.
The company announced in a statement on Thursday that they had voluntarily appointed administrators, McGrathNicol.
"Further to the company's trading halt and announcement on Nov. 12, 2018, the company has not been able to secure additional funding," the statement said.
"As a result, the boards of the group companies met and resolved to appoint administrators."
RCR is reported to be struggling to cover the costs of a number of solar farm projects around the country despite recently raising 72 million U.S. dollars from shareholders.
Founded in 1898, the firm employed about 3,400 staff in Australia.
Administrators said they would commence the sales of assets immediately.
