Companies listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange (SZSE) accomplished 2,522 mergers and acquisitions (M&A) cases in 2018, with a total transaction value of 1.38 trillion yuan, accounting for 54 percent of the total M&A transactions on the A-share market, according to the Xinhua-run cs.com.cn.
According to relevant official of the bourse, the 2,522 M&A cases on the SZSE accounted for 60 percent of the total M&A cases on the A-share market.
These M&A cases reflected progress in industrial upgrading. To be specific, 60 percent of them were industry mergers. 42 cases were aimed to eliminating overcapacity and debt risks, and 43 cases concern innovative industries such as high-end manufacturing, new energy, biomedicine and Internet, with an accumulated transaction amount of 124.1 billion yuan.
In 2018, the SZSE strengthened M&A inspections to promote the sustainable development of the stock market, and it will continue to facilitate the reform of state-owned enterprises and support the growth of the private sector, said the official.
