SYDNEY, July 18 (Xinhua) -- Australian property giant Lendlease revealed on Thursday that they have signed a 14-billion-U.S. dollar deal with Google to develop much-needed housing in the San Francisco Bay Area.

In the company's biggest ever urban construction deal, over the next 10-15 years Lendlease will develop up to 1.4 million square meters of residential, retail, hospitality and other services to support new Google office space in three key areas.

"This joint agreement between Google and Lendlease will help address the need for new housing in the San Francisco Bay Area," Lendlease Americas Chief Executive Denis Hickey said. "We're eager to contribute our world-class approach to creating unique urban communities, and we are focused on delivering outstanding places that redefine how people choose to live, work, connect and contribute to creating an active community."

Subject to planning approval, construction on the project may begin as early as 2021.
