SAN FRANCISCO, Aug. 11 (Xinhua) -- U.S. ride-hailing company Lyft Inc. on Sunday announced a permanent ban on a driver accused of sexual assault, local TV reported.
Police in San Bruno, San Mateo County, south San Francisco said they arrested the 46-year-old male Lyft driver after a 25-year-old female claimed she got raped after being brought to the man's residence.
The woman said she hailed a ride after she was intoxicated at a San Mateo bar and passed out in the back seat, according to KPIX5 TV outlets.
The victim reported the crime to local police on Saturday, who then arrested the driver in San Bruno.
The suspect was identified as Tonye Kolokolo, who has been booked into San Mateo County Jail.
"What is being described is terrifying and the driver's access to Lyft has been permanently removed," the ride-sharing company said in a statement released Sunday. "We are working with the authorities and will continue to help in every way we can."
