The U.S. automaker released on Monday its fourth quarter and full year 2019 U.S. sales data. It announced a 15.9-percent increase in fourth quarter truck sales, including pick-ups and vans, and 9.1 percent rise in full year.
However, truck demand failed to lift Ford's overall sales, as its car segment suffered 28.2 decline while SUV sales fell 4.8 percent in 2019.
The results have more or less reflected Ford's transition from low-profit sedans and compact cars to profit-rich pick-ups and SUVs, said market analysts.
Ford's total vehicles sales reached 2,422,698 units last year, while its rivals General Motors (GM) sold 2,887,046 vehicles and Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) 2,203,663 units in the U.S. market.
GM and FCA also reported declining U.S. sales in 2019, down 2.3 percent and 1 percent respectively.
