NANJING, Jan. 17 (Xinhua) -- SK Hynix, a semiconductor giant from the Republic of Korea, will build an industrial park for integrated circuits in the eastern Chinese city of Wuxi, according to the government of Wuxi's high-tech district.

With a total investment of 2 billion yuan (about 290 million U.S. dollars), the industrial park will be jointly established by SK Hynix and Wuxi's high-tech district, aiming to become a regional hub for the semiconductor industry.

"SK Hynix credits its years of development to the strong support and help of Wuxi governments at all levels," said Lee Seok-hee, CEO of SK Hynix Corporation, expressing hope that the new industrial park will help further enhance the core competitiveness of the semiconductor industry.

Wuxi Mayor Du Xiaogang said that he hoped that the project will help Wuxi speed up the construction of a complete industrial ecology for the integrated circuit sector.

By March 2019, SK Hynix had invested more than 14 billion U.S. dollars since it came to Wuxi in 2005.
