HANOI, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Honda Vietnam resumed operations on Thursday after a 22-day shutdown due to the impact of COVID-19, Vietnam News Agency reported Thursday.

The resumption is carried out as the pandemic is well controlled in Vietnam with no new cases reported for several days, the news agency cited Nguyen Huy Trung, head of the External Relations Division of Honda Vietnam, as saying.

Earlier, the company twice announced to suspend production and assembly of automobiles and motorbikes in Vietnam, with the first one from April 1 to April 15 and the second from April 15 to April 22 due to the epidemic, the news agency reported.

Despite the pandemic, the company's automobile sales reached 1,968 units in March, up 40 percent against the previous month, while its motorbike sales were 157,984 units, down 3 percent, according to the news agency.
