A small number of flights will restart on routes "where we believe there is sufficient customer demand to support profitable flying" and further routes will be announced over the coming weeks as customer demand increases and lockdown measures across Europe are eased, said the airline in a statement.
At the end of March the company said that it had grounded entire fleet of aircrafts and cancelled all of its flights due to the unprecedented travel restrictions and massive lockdowns amid the COVID-19 outbreak.
Alongside the resumption of flights, easyJet also announced a range of new measures to "ensure the health and wellbeing of both customers and crew onboard", including that "customers, cabin and ground crew will be required to wear masks."
"I am really pleased that we will be returning to flying in the middle of June. These are small and carefully planned steps that we are taking to gradually resume operations," said Johan Lundgren, CEO of easyJet.
Lundgren said the carrier would continue to "closely monitor the situation across Europe" and adjust the schedule when more restrictions are lifted to match demand.
"The safety and wellbeing of our customers remains our highest priority, which is why we are implementing a number of measures to enhance safety at each part of the journey, from disinfecting the aircraft to requiring customers and crew to wear masks," added Lundgren.
These measures will remain "in place" as long as it is needed to ensure customers and crew to fly safely as the world continues to recover from the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, said Lundgren.
