China's largest SUV maker sees sales growth in July

SHIJIAZHUANG, Aug. 10 (Xinhua) -- Great Wall Motors (GWM), China's largest sport utility vehicle (SUV) and pickup manufacturer, saw vehicle sales rise nearly 30 percent year on year to 78,339 units in July.

The export sales of GWM in July were 6,300 units, a strong growth of 75 percent month on month.

Haval, GWM's leading SUV brand, drove the overall sales growth of the company with 47,517 units sold in July. Sales of the Haval H6 model reached 23,723, remaining the best-selling SUV in China for 86 months, the company said.

The WEY brand sold 7,091 vehicles in July, up 25 percent month on month, maintaining good growth momentum.

Great Wall pickups further strengthened its dominant position in the market in July, with sales of 20,661 vehicles, a year-on-year growth of 156 percent.

Great Wall pickups have so far won the first place in domestic and export sales for 22 consecutive years, with a total sales of over 1.7 million vehicles worldwide.

Headquartered in the city of Baoding, north China's Hebei Province, GWM owns several SUV and car brands including Haval, Great Wall, WEY and ORA.
