Microsoft reports Q4 results with revenue up 8 pct

SAN FRANCISCO, July 25 (Xinhua) -- Microsoft posted Tuesday a revenue of 56.2 billion U.S. dollars for the fourth quarter of fiscal 2023 ending June 30, up 8 percent from the same period of its last fiscal year.

The company generated quarterly net profits of 20.1 billion dollars, an increase of 20 percent year on year, while diluted earnings per share went up 21 percent to reach 2.69 dollars. Its operating income was 24.3 billion dollars and increased 18 percent, Microsoft said in its fourth quarter of fiscal year 2023 report.

The company's quarterly revenue in Productivity and Business Processes was 18.3 billion dollars, an increase of 10 percent. Revenue in Intelligent Cloud was 24.0 billion dollars and increased 15 percent. Revenue in More Personal Computing was 13.9 billion dollars and decreased 4 percent.

Microsoft also reported its whole fiscal year 2023 revenue at 211.9 billion dollars, an increase of 7 percent compared to fiscal 2022.

Its yearly Generally Accepted Accounting Principle (GAAP) operating income was 88.5 billion dollars and increased 6 percent. GAAP net income in fiscal 2023 was 72.4 billion dollars.

The diluted earnings per share in fiscal 2023 was 9.68 dollars GAAP, a slight increase, and 9.81 dollars non-GAAP, an increase of 7 percent.

"We delivered a solid close to the fiscal year driven by Microsoft Cloud quarterly revenue of 30.3 billion dollars, up 21 percent year-over-year," said Amy Hood, executive vice president and chief financial officer of Microsoft.
